ENGINE 40 & AMBULANCE 40 RESPOND TO DWELLING FIRE IN HIGHTSTOWN

ROBBINSVILLE - January 4, 2009 - Shortly after 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2009, Engine 40 was dispatched to 103 Orchard Avenue in Hightstown Boro as a RIT Engine for a house fire.  Hightstown Police dispatch was receiving numerous calls reporting a working fire and the box was immediately upgraded to a full first alarm with an extra engine and truck.

Shortly after responding, Engine 40 was told that they would be going to work upon arrival and another company was to be assigned RIT.

Upon arrival E40 was instructed to enter the house thru the garage and assist with interior operations.   Although the bulk of the fire had been knocked down by Squirt 41 and their 2 ½” CAFS line, E40 opened walls and ceilings in the kitchen and extinguished hidden pockets of fire.  The fire was declared under control shortly thereafter and companies were released.  Ambulance 40 transported one firefighter to a local hospital with an unspecified injury.
