SHADY LANE HOUSE FIRE
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP - August 18, 2008 - Firefighters from eight of Hamilton’s nine fire districts along with and engine and ambulance from Robbinsville Township IAFF Local 3786 battled a fire today in the 100 block of Shady Lane.
First arriving firefighters from Hamilton Township Engine 17 and Engine 12 were faced with a well involved single family dwelling and led off with a 2 ½ inch line to knock down heavy fire on the front porch. Once the fire on the porch was darkened down, personnel stretched two 1 ¾ inch lines in to the house for an interior attack on the first floor and attic.
Robbinsville Township Division of Fire was requested early in the incident for the ambulance to assist with rehab on scene and to transport one firefighter from Hamilton Township to the hospital for a heat related illness.
Robbinsville Engine 40 responded when command placed a special request for additional manpower above the regular first alarm companies. Engine 40 initially was assigned as second RIT with Engine 16. Engine 40’s crew placed several ladders and cleared out windows on the second floor for egress of interior crews. Engine 40 then was assigned to vertical ventilation once additional companies arrived.
